Speaking at ExpertsLive Australia in April

Written by Tao Yang

As many of you may already know, the legendary System Center Universe franchise has been merged with ExpertsLive, which is also a popular community event over in Europe. As the result, the upcoming SCU Australia has been renamed to ExpertsLive Australia. Unlike last year, instead of just an one-day event, it is going to be a two day event, with 3 tracks: Cloud, Data Center and Enterprise Client Management. ExpertsLive Australia 2017 is going to be held at Crown Promenade Melbourne on 6th and 7th of April.

I will co-present 2 sessions with my friend and MVP veteran Pete Zerger (@pzerger). Our topics are:

  1. Discoverying and monitoring your network topology using OMS
  2. Cloud Based Automation Overview

There are many local and international speakers have already been confirmed, such as Alex Verkinderen, James Bannan, Thomas Maurer, Marcel Zehner, David Obrien, and more!

Make sure you check out the event website: http://www.expertslive.org.au and hopefully I’ll see you all there!

Upcoming Webinar on MP Authoring Using VSAE

Written by Tao Yang

Last week, I have conducted a workshop with Richard Benwell from Squared Up to a group of Squared Up’s customers at an internal company event. In the workshop, I led the students and built a sealed OpsMgr management pack with a simple agent task.

After the workshop, our plan is to make the content available to general public, therefore, Richard and I will be conducting 2 additional webinars next week to cover different time zones. We will repeat what we did in last week’s internal event, and demonstrate how to build such a MP from scratch using VSAE and Visual Studio 2015. This is an absolute beginner’s guide to authoring management packs using VSAE. As you will see, we are writing the entire MP in Visual Studio without having to type any XML code!

If you are interested in this topic, please feel free to pick a time that’s suitable to you from the registration page below:

Lastly, the workshop guide, and a sample completed Visual Studio project can be found in this GitHub repo: https://github.com/tyconsulting/SquaredUp-VSAE-Workshop.

If you’d like to build the MP during the webinar with us, there are some pre-requisites that you must complete the steps outlined in section of the workshop guide before attending to the webinar.

Looking forward to seeing you next week!

My Global Azure Boot Camp 2016 Presentation Recording

Written by Tao Yang

Last Saturday, I presented the topic of “What’s New in OMS” at the Global Azure Boot Camp 2016 Melbourne event. I have recorded it using Camtasia and uploaded to YouTube. You can watch it here:

You can also download the slide deck from HERE. When I was editing the recording, I noticed that I might not placed the lapel microphone properly as it was rubbing my collar and you will notice the some noise in the video. Oh well, something to improve next time.

System Center Universe 2016 North America Arrives After New Year

Written by Tao Yang

As the holiday season is fast approaching, 2015 has only around 10 days left. The first big System Center community event in 2016 would probably be System Center Universe North America, which is going to take place at Dallas, Taxes.

As you may or may not know, System Center Universe was originally started by my friend and fellow CDM MVP Cameron Fuller few years ago. As Cameron is currently busy organising this event, he has asked us to help him spread the words. I’m more than happy to do so because in my opinion, the System Center Universe “franchise” would have to be THE biggest System Center community event globally, and it all started in Texas, by Cameron.

Like 2015, SCU NA 2016 will also be hosted in various simulcast locations around the world. The sessions and speakers have already been announced, you can find everything you need to know from SCU NA’s website: http://www.systemcenteruniverse.com

Cameron has also published a blog post on this: http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/cfuller/archive/2015/12/17/scuniverse-returns-to-dallas-tx-and-the-world-on-january-19th-2016/

For all you Star Wars fans out there, Cameron and the team has also made the first video for SCU 2016: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioJCNJRhlDo

Please help us spreading the words, to keep SCU awesome!

System Center Universe Coming to Melbourne in 2016

Written by Tao Yang

SCU Australia

The biggest community event for System Center would have to be System Center Universe (SCU). This conference is currently conducted in 3 different continent: North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Next year, it is coming down to Melbourne as part of the SCU APAC event. The SCU Australia event is going to take place on the 11th March 2016 at Crown Casino, Melbourne.

Other than the Australian based System Center, Cloud and Data Center Management MVPs (including myself), we are also going to have some globally recognised MVPs as speakers, which will be announced at a later stage once the list is finalised. I can’t drop any names at the moment, but please believe me, based on what I know so far, you don’t want to miss this event!

The SCU APAC event is managed and organised by the Infront Consulting Group APAC team. Currently, they are offering a Christmas special for the conference pass, which is only AUD $200, which is even $50 less than the super early bird special.

You can find the details about SCU Australia from here: http://systemcenteruniverse.asia/australia/

The Christmas special ends 31st December,2015. A promotional email was sent out to many people in the community few days ago. if you didn’t receive the email, you can read it here: http://burl.co/5C33A7B

Lastly, we’d like to see you in the first ever SCU Australia event. You can take advantage of the special Christmas offer and purchase your pass from here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/system-center-universe-australia-2016-tickets-19177081166?discount=SCUAUS_XMAS
